Story Time!

Alex enjoyed story time again this week. This week's theme was bathtime! We read stories about bathtime and Alex even was able to make his own bathtime sponge to bring home and use in the bathtub!

We also took the time to pick out some more books at the library for him to read. He is currently really into the 'Miss Spider' cartoon, so I suggested picking up 'Miss Spider' books. That was a bit of a mistake because Alex insisted that we take every 'Miss Spider' book home with us! Mommy and Daddy are going to be a little bit burnt out on 'Miss Spider' books!

Julia turned 2 months old today! It is amazing how time flies when you are having fun!! She is awake more and more everyday! She is developing a little personality and we have discovered that she really likes her baths! She really has been letting out screams of displeasure when we have been taking her out lately!

Fun Times!

We all had a great time outside yesterday! We took advantage of the semi-warmer weather by taking Duke on a family walk and then by playing in the driveway for awhile! Alex practiced shoveling snow and Greg and I pulled him in his sled on what little snow we had left. I asked Alex if I could ride his sled and he said "no, you might break it!" He told Greg the same thing, so I feel a little better. Alex did ask for me to ride with him at one point, but that was a mistake because I couldn't hold on! Alex had the handles and I fell off on the first curve right onto my behind!

Alex was a little teary eyed yesterday when the snow was melting...but I was able to give him the GREAT (sarcasm!) news that we will be getting more snow tonight!

Alex and Greg also went to the ISU Basketball game last night! They had a blast and Alex loved spotting Reggie Redbird, listening to the pep band, and eating ALL of Papa Stephens' popcorn!

We'll post some photos later!

Vets and Tacos!!

Duke had his annual exam on Thursday! He is always super excited to go to the vet initially (he likes to flirt with all the ladies in the waiting room), but once he gets into the exam room, he shakes like a leaf!

Mommy talked to the vet about Duke's increasing fear of thunderstorms. His anxiety continues to worsen and Daddy is afraid he is going to have a heart attack, so we got some tranquilizers for the really loud storms. They will help him relax and sleep.

Picture Below: Duke's new hiding
spot during storms--the recent
thundersnow really had him shaking.
He cries at the basement door so he can
go down and hide under the stairs.

This is Julia with her puppy, Dukers! She tries to help him feel better!

Today, we took Alex to Toys 'R' Us to buy diapers (we had great store coupons!). One would think that a two year old would be super excited about going to a toy store (even though we told him that we were buying no toys), but he seemed only concerned about tacos! Daddy and Alex guilted Mommy into letting them get Taco John's for lunch (Mommy hates it!). Once we got to Toys 'R' Us, Alex asked us if 'this is where we get tacos?' He continued to ask where the 'tacos' were as we went through the store!

Story Time

Alex really enjoyed story time last night. Last night's theme was 'mittens' and we read a couple of books about mittens, sang songs about mittens, and did a play based on the story 'The Mitten' with puppets. Alex proudly shouted to the class that he has 'that' book at home, referring to 'The Mitten' which was a gift from Meema and Papa Stephens.

Story Time

Alex and I are beginning our 2 year old story time at the library again at the library tonight. It gives mommy and Alex a chance to get out of the house, while daddy and Julia get to spend some time together.

Alex is also excited that his best friend Owen and his mommy are joining us for story time!

Yeah, Alex used his big boy potty!

After several successes last summer, but many failures since then, Alex has started to use the potty yet again! He has had three pee-pees since early yesterday afternoon! Way to go Alex!

A very proud little sister!

Very proud, but a little upset that she did not get gummy bears too!

Yeah, that's right, I'm cool now!

Today's 'Alexism'

Mommy: Alex missed you today while you were at work.
Daddy to Alex: You missed me? You must really love me!
Alex to Mommy and Daddy: No, I love Julia and Dukers more than you guys!

Happy Valentine's Day

Alex and I have spent the past few days preparing for Valentine's Day. We made Valentine's picture frames and made some pink heart valentine cookies. He loves to put the sprinkles on!! He also enjoyed helping to roll out the dough and using the cookie cutter to cut out the heart shapes. Julia is enjoying her First Valentine's Day by sleeping peacefully, while looking as cute as ever!
