Ice Skating

Alex and his Aunt ice skating!! Alex has wanted to go ice skating for some time, so we decided to take him a few weekends ago...this is before it got bad for him. By the time I got on the ice, he was crying and wanted to get off the ice!

This is the unhappy Alex...We got him off the ice and all he wanted to do was go home!! "NO WAY...Mommy paid $14 dollars for us to do this and someone is going to skate, so I guess it will be me!!" Alex hung out with his Uncle while Mommy and his Aunt skated...then the Zamboni showed up to smooth the ice. At this point, Alex decided it was again cool to skate.

This picture is at the end of our ice skating adventure!! I'm sorry that there are not more pictures of him actually skating, but since I was out there with him, I have none to share. For the rest of the time, we skated two laps and then he rested while his Aunt and I did one lap each before starting again. As you can see from his smile, he actually ended up really enjoying himself and can't wait to go again!!

P.S. Congratulations to the ISU women in the Final Four of the NIT and Duke in the Final Four of the NCAA tournament!! Alex and I had a wonderful time at the ISU game today...it was definitely one of the best games I have been to in the past few years! Redbird Arena was filled with electricity!!

Final Four Picks

DADDY

Kansas, Syracuse, W. Virginia, and Duke

MOMMY

Ohio St., Syracuse, W. Virginia, and Duke

ALEX

Ohio St., Murray St., W. Virginia, and Duke

**Sidenote** Alex's picks are most interesting since most of his choices seemed to be the lower seed throughout the tournament, but somehow still managed to choose one 1 seed and two 2 seeds in the Final Four. The funny thing is, after today's win by Murray St., he might not be too far off base with his 13th seed pick!!

JULIA

Duke, Duke, Duke, and REGGIE!!!

New Room Pictures

Julia's new 'BIG GIRL' bed!

Alex and Julia showing off the Cinderella clock her Papa got her for her birthday. They both want to press the song button over and over again!!

Julia's pretty princess mirror her Meema made for her for her birthday! You can probably tell that she likes to look at herself in it all of the time from the fingerprint smudges all over it!

There are more pictures to come...We didn't get the curtains up as planned. Daddy was 'too busy' watching basketball all weekend and Mommy is still searching for those frames!

Busy Week

Singing Papa Happy Birthday!

This week started with a celebration of Alex and Julia's Papa's birthday...We celebrated by taking him and Meema out to eat at his favorite restaurant, the Cracker Barrel. Then we headed home to eat some ice cream cake with 'strawberries' on it. Julia kept calling the roses on the cake 'strawberries' and for the sake of sanity...we agreed with her! Alex made Papa a birthday card and also made him some Spring bird feeders for his backyard made out of an orange and a grapefruit. A good time was had by all!

A Birthday Wish

We also took advantage of the Spring like weather and played outside quite a bit. We took several enjoyable walks with Duke around the neighborhood and the kids were finally able to meet their friends outside for some good outside fun. You could tell that the kids really missed playing with each other, but didn't miss a beat by getting right back into it while playing basketball, riding around on their new scooter and tricycle, and drawing with chalk. We even grilled out Thursday night...which was a real treat!

Mommy has really been enjoying the local government class she has been taking over the past few weeks. I am finding that I am learning more than I thought I would and am enjoying experiences that I had not anticipated. Wednesday night...I actually was able to take a ride up in the basket of the ladder truck at the local fire station. They took us up to 71 feet (it actually can climb to 105) and let us look out over our city. It looks beautiful at night by the way. I am not usually nervous about heights, but this was a new experience and the thought of the ladder truck tipping actually had me a little concerned. At least the computer (yes, the computer) on the basket gave warnings when there was a concern for tipping...The tour and presentation was an experience and gave me even more of an appreciation for the knowledge and expertise of our local fire department. I only wish I had a picture of my experience to share.

And, last but not least, Julia's big girl bedroom is really starting to take shape. She has been sleeping in her 'big girl' bed for a few weeks now. We have finally set up the new guest bedroom in her old nursery and even took down the crib this morning (sniffle, sniffle). The Cinderella clock her Papa got her is now hanging in her room and tonight we'll get up her curtains. The final touch won't be added quite yet...her Disney film replica pictures still have yet to be hung. I am still on a hunt for 11 X 14 frames in white. For some reason, they are elusive. Hopefully, I can get some pictures of her room up on the blog tomorrow for you all to enjoy!

In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb

March is finally here and we are seeing a few glimmers of Spring on the horizon. Hopefully, we have seen the last of Winter that Mother Nature has to offer us, but if previous years are any indication, I'm sure we haven't seen the last of Winter just quite yet. Regardless, I'm am officially deeming it 'Spring' even if it is only meteorologically speaking. Hopefully, these will be the last of the Winter photos to share. Enjoy!
