Official End of Spring

With the kick off to Summer happening this weekend, I thought that I would post some more pictures of the kids from this Spring.

Julia's first ice skating experience did not fair so well...this is about all she did with Aunt Nett and Uncle Jeff. She came off the ice quickly after this picture was taken. Poor Alex missed out on a second try of ice skating. He went to St. Paul with Meema and Papa!

Obviously ice skating didn't scar her permanently...this is Julia leaving the ice center already acting like she is 16 by pretending to talk on her cell phone while her purse is slung on her elbow. When we asked who she was talking to, she said "Meema."

More adventures without Alex...hitting the trails, seeing a bridge, and searching a 'creek' for fish.

Smelling some flowers...

And he's back...just in time to do the annual picture with Mommy's beautiful Azalea's. Fortunately, we actually got pictures this year...a last minute snow last year killed all the buds!

Ooohhh...pretty!

Helping with flower planting. Alex personally planted the Mother's Day pots for his Meemas and his Thank You pots for his teachers.

Alex eating our first strawberry from our garden!!

Julia bending over to give Farley smooches. They were actually smooching just before this picture, but I got there too late.

Papa, Daddy, Alex, and Julia were playing airplane and this is what Daddy managed to do with it. At first, we thought that he put a hole in the siding but, luckily, the propeller just got jammed in the overhang of the siding above it. What luck!! He could never pull it off again if he tried!

Alex's garden: Strawberries, Tomatoes, Lettuce, Corn, Pumpkins,
Watermelons, and Cucumbers.

The "5" Year Old Birthday Boy

Birthday Party Fun

It was a rainy, drizzly day...nothing like the forecasters predicted, but we made the best of it and had tons of fun!!

Baseball with friends...

Julia playing on the playground equipment...

Running races...

Going on a crocodile hunt...

Eating cake, but making no wishes...The wind was not cooperating! We finally got a candle lit on Meema's cake, but Alex's wish had to happen so quickly, we missed the picture!

Opening presents...

Trying out his new big boy bike!!

More presents!!

The Big Day

Alex shares his birthday with Mila and Julka, so we had a cookout out at a dog birthday party for lunch. It is a good thing there was people food there!!

Alex chose to eat at Subway for his birthday dinner. It has now overtaken Taco Bell as his favorite restaurant. He always says..."Subway, Eat Fresh" or sings the "Five Dollar Foot Long" song.

Eating some pickles...Julia's favorite thing to eat at Subway.

Post "half a sub" eating stretch...

The "I've eaten too much Subway" coma stance..."I'm so stuffed, I can't eat another bite...not even ice cream." We canceled our plans for birthday ice cream eating.

Opening presents from Mommy, Daddy, and Julia...

He usually throws any clothes to the side...Daddy made him look at his new Star Wars shirt, which he did decide was very cool.

Alex proclaimed that these two Lego sets were the "best presents everrrrrr"....and that we were the "best parents everrrrrrr" for getting them for him. Should we feel guilty that I found them at a garage sale for $5 each...naaaaaaa! :)

It's the End of the World as He Knows it...And He Feels Fine

MAKING SOME CHANGES

"LOOK" NO TRAINING WHEELS!!

FINAL DAY OF CLASS

Alex with his teachers...Ms. Casey and Ms. Carolyn

PRESCHOOL ART SHOW

This painting was politely named "Summertime," although Alex explained that the blue is the clouds, the yellow on the left is the sun, the green is the grass, and the yellow blob is Duke peeing on the grass. Thanks to Ms. Casey and Ms. Carolyn for not sharing Alex's literal interpretation with everyone.

This was Alex's homework assignment a few weeks ago and it was the first of many fights to come over doing homework. It wasn't that he didn't want to do it...It was just that he wanted to do it 'his way' and mommy had much different ideas as to what it should look like (the assignment was that he was supposed to dress his person so that someone looking at it could tell it was him...I was suggesting a Duke t-shirt, his Cardinal crocs, etc.). In the end, I sucked it up and let him do it all by himself...Next year is going to be rough!

Mother's Day Pictures

My Mother's Day breakfast treat...Pancakes spelled out as "Happy Mother's Day!" They were delicious...what a treat!

Spending some time with Meema in the morning. The kids had fun playing with Meema and Papa in the backyard. Just so you know...Alex is saluting. Ever since the nice volunteer at the airplane museum taught him how to salute, Alex insists on saluting for pictures and completing it with a SNAP!

Mommy and her babies...Alex and I worked on the garden (see background) in the afternoon. We have strawberries, corn, cucumbers, lettuce, pumpkins, watermelon, and a tomato plant. We'll keep you posted on the progress. And, yes, this is Julia's second dress...she is becoming quite the diva about her clothes!! :)

Mother's Day evening at Meema's...Where's Alex?? Oh, yeah...He is off camera throwing a temper tantrum. Do 'almost five year olds' still do that? I guess so...
