Juia's 18 Month Appointment
Julia's weight has finally leveled off and her percentage is no longer dropping, which is really good news. She weighs in at 22 lbs, 14 0z, which is the 25 percentile, is 32 inches long, which is the 55 percentile, and has a head circumference of 19 1/2 inches, which is at the 97 percentile. She is our little bobblehead even though it doesn't really look like it when you look at her!!

Fun Run

Alex, Owen, and Gabrielle's first night of Fun Run! They are gearing up for the 'big race!'
'Big Race' = One Lap Around the Track

I asked the kids to turn around so I could take a picture of their race numbers. This is what I ended up with...they didn't quite get what I was asking them to do!

Julia picking flowers by the track at Alex's next big race!!

There they go...Alex and Daddy (Alex is in the red shorts and navy blue t-shirt near the middle of the picture)!! I estimate that Alex placed somewhere between 15 and 20th place at his second race. It is pretty good considering that I would say there are about 50 runners in the 4 year old category. He definitely wants to keep working on improving...he wants to get 1st place eventually!!

Just In Case You Didn't Know...
Alex: You know, when your glass is wet on the outside, it is called 'imagination.'
Daddy: Oh, yeah? Where did you learn that?
Alex: Aunt Nett and Uncle Adam
Daddy: Do you think you mean 'condensation?'
Alex: No...Imagination

Updates
Well, summer is here and things are getting crazy at the Stephens house!!
Alex started his wee-ball last week and is already loving it! He will also be starting a soccer team next week and swim lessons a few weeks after that! Julia doesn't have too many classes, but is going to take a mom and me swim class! Both Alex and Julia are participating in the local library's summer reading program. They have already received several prizes for allowing Mommy and Daddy to read books to them!
The kids are getting anxious about getting to the swimming pool, as am I. It seems as though the weather is just not quite good enough and on days it is...we are too busy. Hopefully, this week we will find a chance to head over to hit the lazy river!
Alex's garden has really taken off! Although we have had some troubles with the bunny rabbits, everything seems to be coming in just fine! Alex's corn is about 8-10 inches tall now and the carrots have little sprouted tops. We are waiting for our first strawberries, but they will probably not come in for awhile. They definitely received the brunt of the damage from those silly bunnies! In an effort to keep the bunnies away, our little garden now looks quite silly. It has a fence around it (which the bunnies liked to chew through), several pinwheels, and wal-mart bags tied all around it. Evidently, the bunnies don't like the noise the bags make when the wind blow them. It actually seems to be working because I haven't seen a bunny, or evidence of one, in our garden in over a week now!
Alex has taken up a new sport this summer already. Alex, Daddy, Mommy, and Julia have visited the local tennis courts a few times not in order to let Alex play tennis with Daddy. He is really enjoying it quite a bit and even played a bit with his Uncle Mike yesterday. Alex now has his own racket (he was using Mommy's) because Uncle Mike passed on his junior racket to him! Alex was quite excited!
We celebrated JoAnn's 30th birthday on Saturday with a big bash at the park! The kids really enjoyed playing with all of the kids at the playground, up at the tennis courts, and on the baseball diamond. Neither Alex or Julia wanted to leave, but by 8:00, it was time to go!! They were both covered in food, dirt, and grime! They were quite a sight as was the bath water when they got out of it!
It seems as though there is more to say...and there is...to be continued...
