Martha...Eat Your Heart Out

Homemade Peppermint Oreos

Every Christmas, I tend to enter a 'baking' zone. I feel the need to make and bake a ton of cookies. I never really felt the need this year. Yes, I baked a few cookies but, overall, I just didn't seem to be in a baking mood. Despite this, I had to ramp it up due to a Cookie Exchange invite. I was told to bring four dozen cookies using a recipe from my kitchen. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a fraud...I use the Betty Crocker pouches and pre-made cookie dough from the stores. I had to do a little research...Internet blogs and the stack of magazines from my mom and sister, but I found two recipes that I feel are worthy for my kitchen in the future (even though they are not 'my' creations)! They took a lot of work, but in the end, I think they turned out wonderfully...and maybe even helped me get back into the Christmas baking mood!

A Meeting with Santa

Julia was still too scared to sit on Santa's lap this year...but, we made progress. She talked to Santa and was able to tell him that she wants a purple princess bike for Christmas. Alex was his usual, social self and hopped right up onto Santa's lap. He had no problem telling Santa that he wants army men for Christmas and even wore his camouflaged shirt underneath his nice 'daddy' shirt just so Santa would know just how serious he was about it! :)
