Announcement

Happy Birthday, Aunt Nett!!

We love you!!

Five Months Old and Ready for Summer

Julia turned five months old yesterday!! Her personality cracks us up everyday! Her knew trick is to make this low groan noise that almost sounds like she is a ghost or something. She thinks it is hilarious and does it over and over!!

We are all getting ready for a fun and exciting summer!! We are sure that summer is going to fly by...we have signed up for the summer reading program at the local library, zoo classes for Alex, and 'mom and me' swim classes for both Alex and Julia! It is going to be a blast!

Three Year Doctor's Appointment

We all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!! Unfortunately, we had hoped to take a picnic at a local park, but the weather just did not want to cooperate. Despite this, we had lots of fun playing, running errands, working on projects around the house, hanging out with Aunt Nett and Uncle Adam, visiting Aaron (home from the service for a few weeks), having a cookout at Meema and Papa Stephens, and going to the Memorial Day Parade! Alex just loved the parade...according to him, it had just the right amount of 'Star Spangled Banner Flags," but was short on marching bands!

Alex had his three year doctor appointment yesterday! It started off a little sketchy because for the first time ever, Alex was scared at the doctor's office. It took him some time to calm down, but by the time we left, he was pretending to be "Dr. Alex" and was asking me questions about how I felt. He weighed 33 pounds (no gain from the 2 1/2 appointment--where does it all go??) and they measured him at 36 inches. The height is not correct because the nurse had to estimate. Alex would not stand still and up straight (he was crying in fear!!). I measured him again after he calmed down and he was 38 1/2 inches tall. The funny thing about the whole ordeal is that he was terrified of being weighed and measured, but didn't bat an eyelash when they pricked his finger for the lead test!! Silly boy!

Falling asleep at the kitchen sink...Do you get enough sleep?? Why fall asleep on the rug in the kitchen? Your bed is much more comfortable!

Alex's Birthday Weekend

Alex had a very busy and exciting birthday weekend! It all started Friday morning when he asked where his "cake was." He was ready to start eating cake Friday morning!! Alex enjoyed a birthday breakfast of cinnamon rolls instead. We later met Daddy for lunch at one of Alex's favorites, Potbelly's. To end the day, we went to pick up Alex's cake at the farm. He got to see cows and even was able to sit on a tractor. We picked up Taco John's for supper (Alex's most favorite) and headed back home for a night of playing with Alex's bestfriend, Owen.

Saturday, Alex had his 3rd birthday party! It was an exciting event with his grandparents, aunts, and uncles. He received tons of toys to add to his collection and is grateful for every last one! Mommy and Daddy are scrambling to come up with some storage solutions for our house! We have been overtaken!!

Aunt Tonya later came over to spend some time with Alex on Saturday. We took a nice walk and ate pizza and breadsticks (also, one of Alex's favorite foods)!

On Sunday, Alex invited Owen to visit the zoo. We went to the zoo and saw tons of animals! Alex and Owen also rode the carousel--Owen wasn't quite sure about it, but Alex enjoyed it for what seemed like the 100th time. We cannot take a trip to the zoo without enjoying the carousel!

Is it a full moon?

Sorry that it has taken me so long to make an appropriate update! Last week was one of our crazy weeks of existence. The week started somewhat smoothly...then bam, in a moments flash on Tuesday evening, Alex was wounded during his regular wacky play and we had to make a trip to the ER. We knew that this trip to the ER was inevitable...it was just a matter of time with Alex. Both Mommy and Daddy are always wiping our brow and saying..."that was a close one." But, Tuesday night, ended it all. I guess that it just what it is like...being the mother of a little boy who likes to take risks and is always saying that he is being careful, even when he is definitely not. When it was all said and done, Alex had five stitches in his upper right lip. It looked pretty nasty last week, but funny enough, it barely looks as if there is anything even happened to him today!

Julia welcomed a new best friend to the world last week. Our neighbors had a baby girl on Wednesday morning. Julia is looking forward to tons of good fun with her new friend! She says that she is surrounded by too many boys, but that is about to end!

This weekend was a busy and fun weekend as usual. Aunt Nett and Uncle Adam spent time with us on Friday and we enjoyed supper out with them at night. On Saturday, Alex and Daddy continued working on their landscaping project while Mommy, Julia, and Meema went shopping for flowers. Alex also helped Mommy pot flowers for his "Meemas" for Mother's Day. Saturday Night, we celebrated Mother's Day with Mommy's Mommy. Everyone came over for pizza and fun. On Sunday, Daddy and Alex made breakfast for me, took me shopping, and treated me to lunch at Chipotle. Mommy went shopping in the afternoon with her mom and then we went over to spend time with Daddy's Mommy for supper. Mommy kicked Daddy's butt on the drums when we played 'Rock Band' and we enjoyed spending time with Meema, Papa, Mike, and Stephie. We had a great time all weekend!

Four Month Appointment

I am catching some flak for not updating the blog recently!! I never knew so many of you actually paid attention!

Julia had her four month doctor appointment on Tuesday! All is well! She is growing so well and is already up to 14 pounds! She has made many progresses in the past few weeks--she has rolled over from her tummy to her back, her back to her tummy, and has started sucking on her toes! It is quite a scene!
