Updates

I have posted tons of pictures lately, but haven't really taken the time to really write what is going on in our lives right now...so here is goes...

Julia is officially a toddler now! She is one year old, walks steadily (except when Alex pushes her down or knocks her over while running past), likes to play 'mommy' (she holds her babies and pushes them around in a stroller), and likes to pretend to talk on the phone (anything can become a phone...). She went to her first ISU basketball game the other day and handled it pretty well. She loved the sights and sounds and got a kick out of clapping her hands when the crowd cheered.

Alex has been his busy little self lately. Preschool started up again a few weeks ago and he is still loving it!! Mommy and Daddy have started the process of trying to find him a preschool again for next year. We are looking for something that is at least three hours long to help him transition to a full day of kindergarten. We went outside today and played in the snow...Alex has only been asking everyday for the past week to do so. So, we went out yesterday and today. He was super excited to use his new snow castle blocks that he got for Christmas! We really wanted Julia to join us so she could use her new snowsuit, but she slept too late this afternoon. 'What a bummer!" Alex would say!!

As for the bunny we saved...he is essentially ungrateful!! His thanks to us has been to gnaw one of my $35 weigilia bushes down to the ground. I said some unkind words to him...couldn't believe he would do this to me after I saved his life and fed him cantaloupe and lettuce!! Alex and I built a temporary barricade to keep him from continuing, but Daddy is going to have to buy some better stuff at the store!!

More Christmas

Our last Christmas celebration for 2008! Everyone (Aunt Cindy, Nathaniel, Kelsey, Sarah, Great Grandpa, Judy, Aunt Nett, Uncle Adam, Uncle Jeff, Papa, Meema, and our family) got together just like old times!! I thought I had more pictures of our Christmas celebration, but we must not have taken many since we had just received a new camera for Christmas and were still learning to use it! A good time was had by all eating gondolas and catching up!!

Bunny Escapades

Last night, during the ISU/Bradley game, I went downstairs to workout and discovered that we had a visitor. The poor bunny rabbit had somehow fallen into our window well that is covered from above. The only way we could get him out was through the basement window in our basement. Daddy and I tried to get him out of the window well during most of the second-half of the game and had no luck. We finally called our neighbor and he came over and just picked him up out of the well and put him in Duke's crate. Suprisingly, the bunny rabbit seemed OK with being captured...but, he was probably hungry and cold. We're not sure how long he was down there, but we hope it wasn't too long. After his capture, we gave him a treat of cantaloupe and lettuce. He didn't seem too interested...just scared. Daddy let him go between the houses and the bunny rabbit hopped away.

Oh, and what about Duke?? As usual, when we have intruders, he is fast asleep. The one time we tried to catch the mouse at our old house...Duke snoozed as the mouse ran practically all over him. Of course, when we tried to catch the bunny, again he was no help!! Do I care?? Not really, I raised Duke to be a lover not a killer, but I do think it is interesting that if that bunny had been in the yard...Duke would have been on it like white on rice. Silly dog!!

We are glad that the bunny rabbit is alright, but we do blame him for ISU's loss to Bradley. We were so busy trying to save the bunny that we couldn't concentrate on cheering for ISU. Some dumb luck, bunny!!

Alex and Julia meeting Santa Claus at their Meema and Papa's house on Christmas Eve!! Julia wasn't so sure what to think of the big guy in red...Santa was OK at a distance, but she sure didn't like it if he got too close!!
