Turkey, Gross!

It is official! Julia is just like her mommy! She had her first taste of turkey the other night and she choked and gagged on it! She was very dramatic. We tried it the next night and she did the same thing! Duke isn't disappointed though...he got the leftovers!

Updates

Wow! Do we ever continue to be busy or what?

The past few weeks have continued to be hectic and crazy! Aunt Tonya was home last week and Alex and Julia had tons of fun hanging out with her! We went to the park, had a picnic, went to Chipotle (of, course!), and had all kinds of fun with her! We were even surprised to find out that Aunt Karen and Uncle Ben were coming over Saturday night! Alex was his typical showman self and showed everyone how he can march to college fight songs! He is a character!

Julia finished up her swim class last week! She had a blast and mom was surprised to see that Julia passed her class. Not that Julia didn't do great, but mommy didn't realize it was a pass/fail class! Mommy thought it was just for fun! Anyways, Julia got passing scores for kicking, splashing, and comfort in the water, but she still needs to work on putting her head underwater and personal entry and exit from the water! She definitely can't get herself into a pool, but if mommy wasn't such a chicken, she probably could have put her head under the water!

More news with Julia: Mommy realized last night that she is popping her first tooth! It is barely coming through, but it is definitely there! We thought she would be toothless like Alex until 10 months, but it looks as though Julia has finally beaten Alex at something! Julia is also starting to crawl a little bit! It is more like a cross between an army crawl and swimming the freestyle, but it is getting her around!

Alex had another zoo class yesterday! He learned all about animals that lay eggs and even got to pet a millipede and a snake! No fears from him! We also checked out the butterfly exhibit at the zoo while we were there and Alex loved it! He loves to point them out on our walks as well!

Mike and Stephanie spent the day with us yesterday! They watched Julia while Mommy and Alex were at zoo class and then we went swimming! It was a hot day and the pool was crowded, but Alex had a blast as always!

Julia's Six Month Check-Up

Julia's new stats:

Height- 26 inches
Weight- 16 pounds, 11 ounces

Both at the 60% percentile! A little shocking--we expected her percentile in height to continue to decline.

Her doctor says that she is right on track and is a happy and healthy little girl! Well, she was happy until she got the shots, anyways!

Keeping Busy!!

Where did I leave off??

Julia turned six months old this weekend! It is amazing how time flies by! She has been eating her vegetables...green beans, carrots, peas, and squash. Peas and squash seem to be her early favorites! She is still not quite crawling yet, but she is putting in a pretty good darn effort trying! She just hasn't quite figured out how to use her knees! Alex army crawled at first and, we think with a little more arm strength, Julia will be there in no time!

Julia started her swim class with Mommy yesterday. She didn't seem sure of it at first yesterday. She was very quiet and kind of just absorbed everything that was going on. Today, it was a whole different story! She was kicking, splashing, and screaming in delight! She is definitely going to be a little swimmer!

Alex has been busy as usual! He went to go see the Blackhawk Helicopter, Huey Helicopter, and C-130 flyover at the mini-Vietnam Memorial last Thursday with Meema and Papa! He had a blast and especially liked the big 'Star Spangled Banner.' He has also been hanging out with Meema while Mommy takes Julia to her swim lesson. They have been hitting the local parks! He told Meema that he couldn't go down one slide because it made him 'nervous' and that it was a 'bummer' that one of the swings she was pushing him wouldn't go higher! Mommy and Alex checked out the Children's Discovery Museum yesterday for their free day. It was a little crowded, but we still had fun!

As for all of us, we enjoyed spending Sunday evening with Meema for her birthday. We took her out to eat at the Cracker Barrel as always! Tonight, Mommy, Daddy, Alex, and Julia headed to the pool for some fun. Julia took a break from the pool tonight, but Mommy and Daddy took turns playing with Alex in the pool, floating in the Lazy River, and stomping on the water fountains!
