Another Busy Weekend

Uncle Matt came into town for a visit over the weekend. Most of the time was spent painting Meema and Papa's house, but we did have some time for good ole fun! We had a nice cookout with Uncle Matt on Saturday with hamburgers, vegetable salad, bacon wrapped shrimp, and corn on the cob! Uncle Matt also brought over fireworks for Alex--Alex thought the poppers, sparklers, and snakes were pretty neat, but became a little scared when the smoke from the smoke bomb came hurling towards him! Alex keeps checking out the front window of our house to make sure that the snake is "really dead." We tried telling him that they weren't real snakes, but he seems unconvinced!

Summer Fun

As always, we have been crazy busy! This past weekend, Alex, Julia, and Mommy went to the Airplane Museum! It is Alex's favorite museum and he loves to sit in the Huey helicopter. He tells me that he wants to be a helicopter pilot when he grows up! He is also growing up so fast; yesterday, he asked me "so, how did you like your trip to the Airplane Museum, Mommy?" He cracks me up!

On Sunday, we celebrated Father's Day. Alex, Julia, Duke, and Mommy let Daddy sleep in while we made him a big breakfast of French Toast, Watermelon, and Cantaloupe. Then we headed to the zoo, which is always a good time (except for the fact that the carousel is broken right now!). We then visited the new playground equipment across from the zoo. Alex was thrilled that there was a pirate ship to play on. Then, Daddy and Alex worked on Alex's garden until the storm blew through...we were also supposed to go swimming, but the storm put a damper on that plan!

Julia is progressing by leaps and bounds! She started eating green beans last week and she seems to really like them! She loves to make wet razzes while she eats them showing us that she is very happy, but green beans fly everywhere!! We are not sure how to stop her from doing that! Julia has also really taken off on her mobility! She has been rolling over since the end of April, but hasn't really taken a liking to doing it a lot until recently! We really have to keep an eye on her because she can log roll herself across the room!

Alex had his first zoo class today! It was tons of fun...Alex petted a ferret, a baby-pigmy goat, and a long haired guinea pig (which looked like a toupee when it was on the floor). Alex also got to feed the baby goat a bottle! We spent a little more time at the zoo after his class and were able to see the sea lion show. We usually just miss it, but made it in time today! Alex absolutely loved it! He was amazed at all the tricks the sea lions could do!

St. Louis

Mommy, Alex, and Julia accompanied Daddy to St. Louis for his CFA exam. We stayed at a hotel by the airport and Alex loved it! We stayed on the 6th floor and there was a panoramic view of the St. Louis airport by the elevators. Alex just watched the airplanes take off and land with amazement! He was also excited to see the tram that dropped off passengers at the airport!

We were also able to visit Mommy's Aunts and Cousins on our small trip. Mommy, Alex, and Julia met Aunt Beth and Deidre for a nice breakfast and then drove over to Aunt Cindy's in the afternoon. We had a nice visit with Aunt Cindy, Sarah, Deliah, Cookie, and the croaking frog by the waterfall! Everyone was excited to get to meet Julia and Alex worked his charm as usual!

If it had not been for the airport, Alex's favorite part of the trip probably would have been seeing the Mississippi River and going over the bridge than ran over the lock and dam system. He found that amazing!

Poor Daddy

Yesterday morning, Daddy experienced his first child created 'trauma.' Julia poked him in the eye in the morning and, at first, everything seemed fine. As the day progressed, Daddy could barely hold his eye open. Mommy made him go to the doctor and, just as Mommy told Daddy (yes, I know everything), he had a corneal abrasion. Julia's sharp little fingernails can cause some real damage! Daddy is on an antibiotic and pain medicine, but after another visit to the doctor today, he is all cured!
